Part-A

1. What are the methods used for finding out the slope and deflection at section in the loaded beams?

2. Define sign conversions in deflection of beams?

3. Cantilever of length ‘l’ carrying a distributed load whose intensity varies uniformly from zero at the fixed end to ‘W’ per unit length of free end. Derive deflection of beams?

4. A uniform beam of length is simply and symmetrically supported on a span ‘l’.Find the ratio l/l’ so that the upward deflection at each equals the downward deflection at mid span, due to a central point load?

5. Draw the neat sketch of relation between slope, deflection and radius of curvature?

i. The maximum slope and deflection

ii.The slope and deflection at 2m from the fixed end

Take E=210GN/m2

12. A steel girder of 6m length acting as a beam carries a UDL ‘W’ N/m run through its length .if I=30*10^-6 m4 and depth 270mm.calculate

i. The magnitude of W so that the maximum stress developed in the beam section does not exceed 72MN/m2

ii. The slope and deflection in the beam at distance of 1.8m from one end.

Take E=200GN/m2.

13. Simply supported beam of span ‘l’ carrying a UDL of W per unit run over the whole span .Derive the slope and deflection.

11. A 2m long cantilever of steel tube of section 150mm external diameter and 10mm thick is loaded as shown in fig. If E=200GN/m2.Find

i. The value of W show that maximum bending stress 150MN/m2

ii. The maximum deflection for loading
